The Niujie Mosque was originally built in 996 in Beijing during the Liao Dynasty of China. It was destroyed in the Mongol invasion in the 1200s, then rebuilt and expanded in 1443 and 1696.
The mosque exhibits traditional Chinese architecture and design, with elements of Arabic calligraphy. It is the largest and oldest mosque in Beijing.
