Possible proof that Islamic law may be source for 'innocence until proven guilty'

Here is a reference for the Islamic influence on the presumption of innocence:

The historian Marcel Boisard states in his journal "On the probable influence of Islam on western public and international law", published in the International Journal of Middle East studies:

It was above all the very high ethical standard of Islamic law that impressed the medieval West and provoked the development of a more refined legal thinking. This aspect is undoubtedly the most durable merit of Muslim influence, as illustrated by the administration ofjustice. Until the Crusades, legal procedure in the West consisted of "God's judgments" by boiling water or by duel, or by "ordeal" during which people were burnt with red-hot irons or boiling oil and, if they survived, declared "not guilty." In contrast, we have only to quote the instructions given by Omar in the seventh century to the Muslim judges to show what a chasm separated the two conceptions: "Only decide on the basis of proof, be kind to the weak so that they can express themselves freely and without fear, deal on an equal footing with litigants by trying to reconcile them."

From Islam's beginnings the suspect was presumed innocent until it could be proved otherwise. It is certainly not a coincidence that Louis IX was the monarch who created the French legal administration by appointing "royal inquirers,” by instituting testimonial proof, and by permitting the recourse of "making a plea to the King." The legislation he introduced marked a turning point in the history of law in Europe. Popular imagery was not mistaken on this point, since it is that above all which was remembered. Louis lX had frequented the philosophic theologians of his time; he had received St. Thomas Aquinas at his table. The influence of Islam was, however, even more direct. We can make this presumption since it was on his return from Palestine that the King undertook his major legal reforms. Joinville (Jean de Joinville, chronicler of St Louis) gives us fairly clear proof in his writings.

Hadith and innocence till proven guilty

Western and Islamic law traditions have far more in common than is assumed. For example, the ethical and legal principle of the presumption of innocence, or innocent until proven guilty, is stated in both traditions almost verbatim.

In Latin, the principle is “ei incumbit probatio qui dicit, non qui negat” (the burden of proof is on the one who declares, not on one who denies).

In the hadīth, the Prophet ﷺ said:

وَلَكِنَّ الْبَيِّنَةَ عَلَى الْمُدَّعِي وَالْيَمِينَ عَلَى مَنْ أَنْكَرَ

“The burden of proof is on the claimant and an oath is an obligation upon him who denies.”

Perhaps our most important ideas all come from the same origin. He who has ears, let him hear.

Ibn Al-Qayyim said, “A mark of tranquility and dignity is kindness with the creation. Many people are turned away from religion by preachers who habitually seek differences and division, who build up their own faith by tearing down others. Yet Allah revealed himself in different languages, in different eras, to different peoples. Seeking common ground with others is a principled devotion to the truth. It was the way of the first generations in Islam to collect and share the sayings of Biblical prophets alongside the sayings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, a remarkable wisdom that has sadly been buried by the tribalism and sectarianism of shallow minds.

O son of Adam, be disinterested in what people own and they will love you, be content with what Allah has allotted for you and you will be the wealthiest of people, love for people what you love for yourself and you will be a believer, do not harm your neighbor and you will be a Muslim, and do not laugh too much as it will deaden the heart.”

PROPHET MUHAMMAD'S
CHARTER OF RIGHTS / PRIVILEGES TO CHRISTIANS
LETTER TO THE MONKS OF ST. CATHERINE MONASTERY

http://www.cyberistan.org/islamic/charter1.html

According to the tradition preserved at Sinai, Mohammed both knew and visited the monastery and the Sinai fathers. The Koran makes mention of the Sinai holy sites. In the second year of the Hegira, corresponding to AD 626, a delegation from Sinai requested a letter of protection from Mohammed. This was granted, and authorized by him when he placed his hand upon the document. In AD 1517, Sultan Selim I confirmed the monastery’s prerogatives, but took the original letter of protection for safekeeping to the royal treasury in Constantinople. At the same time, he gave the monastery certified copies of this document, each depicting the hand print of Mohammed in token of his having touched the original.

9 common misconceptions of Shia Muslims that needs to stop!

“O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you.” (The Holy Quran 49:13)

As Muslims, we already have enough Islamophobia and religious misunderstandings to occupy our lives until the end of time. Therefore the misunderstandings and bigotry that happen within our own communities is baffling and honestly quite sad, often targeted at the smaller and often more marginalized Shia Muslim communities. The amount of times I’ve come out as Shia to my non-Shia friends and have them either explode in anger or silently shake their heads in disrespect is uncountable, and unfortunately this happens to many of us on a daily basis. In a small attempt to clear out the misunderstandings and help foster a new environment of dialogue and open discussion, here are some of the most common misunderstandings of Shia Muslims that I’ve come across:

1. Shia Muslims don’t pray to God

This may come as a surprise, but there are a shockingly high amount of Muslims who have somehow been convinced that Shia Muslims do not pray to God (Astaghfirullah), and instead pray to Imam Ali or Imam Hussein or somehow do not pray to any entity at all. This is completely false. The main belief of all Muslims is the belief in One God, and God only. Shia Muslims, including all Muslims, believe in one God and pray to Allah five times a day if not more. We love God just as much as any other Muslim, and to assume that we do not pray to God is very offensive, and a blatant example of extreme bigotry.

2. Shia Muslims have a different Quran

This accusation is often easier to disregard and disprove, however is still unfortunately a highly popular misconception. The misconception that Shia Muslims read a different Quran is completely false. There is only one Quran, and one of the miracles of our religion is the preservation of the original Quran recited by Prophet Mohammad. Many have tried to convince me that Shia Muslims instead read some sort of distorted Quran made in Iran somewhere, however simply walk into any Shia Muslim centre near you and check the copies of the holy Quran on the shelf. We all (Alhamdulillah) read the same Quran.

3. Shia Muslims don’t pray the required five prayers a day

This is one of the most common misconceptions, and is used as an attack on Shia Muslims when it is absolutely not true. The five daily prayers that all Muslims perform is a requirement, and is a devotional form of love and respect to God. Shia Muslims pray the required five prayers a day. The only difference is the timings of prayer. We pray the five prayers but split it up into three times a day. The reasoning for this is because the Quran only mentions three times of prayer during the day. Sunni scholars agree that the Quran mentions only three times for prayer, however keep to praying five times of day based on hadith. So the only difference is the timings of prayer, and it is completely false to accuse Shia Muslims as not praying the required five daily prayers. In addition, there are many Shia Muslims who actually pray five times of day similar to the Sunni school of thought. It is therefore not true to accuse Shia Muslims of somehow not praying the daily prayers required of all Muslims.

4. Shia Muslims pray to a rock

This misconception comes from the fact that Shia Muslims pray on a torba, a round piece of hardened clay that one touches to the forehead during sujood. Shia Muslims do not pray to a rock (Astaghfirullah). We believe that whilst doing sujood our foreheads must touch natural earth, and not something artificial. This is to help keep the practice of what Prophet Mohammad did during his prayer. Numerous hadiths stated when the Prophet lifted his head from prayer the mark of earth could still be seen on his forehead. We pray on pieces of natural clay in order to keep prayer as natural and original as possible. While there are many hadith that support this claim, here is one of the most common ones by the famous Sunni scholar Bukhari:

“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘The earth has been made for me a place of prostration and a means of purification, so wherever a man of my Ummah is when the time for prayer comes, let him pray.'” Bukhari

5. Shia Muslims only love Imam Ali and Imam Hussein and not Prophet Mohammad

This accusation is very common and clearly shows a lack of knowledge on the part of those participating in this misconception. Shia Muslims have pride in loving the Prophet, as well as loving his family which he encouraged us to do. Loving the Prophet means to love his beloved family as well. We love Imam Ali because of his role in preserving the religion and his love for the Prophet. We also love Imam Hussein (as well as Fatima, Hassan, Zaynab, and the rest of the family) because of their devotion to the religion in which they gave up their lives for. Many of my Sunni friends have no idea who the Prophet’s family were, which I believe is a lack of understanding of a huge part of who the Prophet was. To love the Prophet is to love his family, and to love his family is to love the Prophet

“That is of which Allah gives the good news to His servants, (to) those who believe and do good deeds. Say [O Muhammad]: I do not ask of you any reward for it but love for my near relatives; and whoever earns good, We give him more of good therein; surely Allah is Forgiving, Grateful.” (The Holy Quran 42:23)

6. Shia Muslims focus too much on Imam Hussein

This accusation is often used as an insult, which saddens me a level almost indescribable in words. I encourage all who do not have any knowledge on the Prophet’s grandson Hussein to read and understand who he was, both historically and religiously. Shia Muslims lament and remember his martyrdom, in which he was killed after standing up to corruption and injustice. Hussein’s body was mutilated and his severed head was displayed for all to fear. Imam Hussein’s family as well as other members of the Prophet’s family were chained and dragged to the Sham (modern day Damascus) to be held as prisoners in inhumane conditions. Both Shia and Sunni Muslims remember his death during the month of Muharram when he was killed, and the pilgrimage to his shrine in Karbala attracts more people yearly than the obligatory pilgrimage of Hajj. It is not only Shia Muslims who make this pilgrimage for Ashura, as hundreds of Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Hindus, and Sunni Muslims also commemorate his life and his stand against injustice by paying homage to his grave in Karbala.

7. Shia Muslims don’t rely on hadith or have unreliable hadith

This misconception is an unfortunate product of more than a thousand and a half years of suppression and smearing of the Shia community. To begin with, how to pray itself is completely based on hadith for both Sunni and Shia. If Shia Muslims did not rely on hadith, how would we be praying? We rely on famous Sunni scholars for hadith as well as our own hadith that many Sunni scholars have declared unreliable simply because it is from a Shia source. The misconception that all Shia hadith is unreliable must be understood as being simply untrue and a form of suppression. What makes Shia hadith unreliable? Many people will say that simply being “Shia” makes the hadith unreliable, but many cannot go further to describe why. This obviously is a blatant example of targeted suppression with no basis in truth or logical common sense. Many of our hadiths are taken from Ahlul Al Bayt, with many famous Sunni scholars agreeing on the importance of the Quran and Ahlul Al Bayt. The most famous hadith of the Prophet Muhammad:

“I am about to answer the call (of death). Verily, I leave behind two precious things (thaqalayn) amongst you: the Book of Allah and my Ahl al-Bayt. Verily, the two will never separate until they come back to me by the side of the Pond.”

This has been narrated by Al-Hakim al-Naysaburi, al-Mustadrak `ala al-Sahihayn (Beirut), volume 3, pages 109-110, 148, and 533); Muslim, al-Sahih, (English translation), book 031, numbers 5920-3; al-Tirmidhi, al-Sahih, volume 5, pages 621-2, numbers 3786 and 3788; volume 2, page 219; Ahmad b. Hanbal, al-Musnad, volume 3, pages 14, 17, 26; volume 3, page 26, 59; volume 4, page 371; volume 5, pages 181-2, 189-190; al-Nasa’i, Khasa’is’Ali ibn Abi Talib, hadith number 79; and over 30 other Sunni scholars as well as Shia scholars of hadith.

8. Shia Muslims all hate Sunnis or other non-Shia Muslims

This, similar to the previous misconception, is again used as a tool for dividing the differences and promoting hatred of the other. No, Shia Muslims do not hate Sunni Muslims or any other non-Shia Muslims. At the end of the day, we are all Muslims who believe in Allah and love the Prophet. Although there are differences, we all pray in the same direction, the same amount of times, to the same God, with the same amount of love for our religion. This misconception that we are closed minded or cut off from the rest of the Muslim community is false, and in fact we welcome dialogue and open discussions. Unfortunately it must be said that there are extreme on both sides which fuel sectarian hatred and must be stopped. The reality however is that there are numerous countries in which Shia and Sunni Muslims live side by side in peace and harmony: Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, and others. There are Sunni and Shia marriages, friendships, coworkers, and children. This over-exaggeration of the hatred between Sunni and Shia Muslims is a result of mass media and sectarian politics, and it should be our duty to put an end to divisive and toxic misrepresentations of the two schools of thought.

9. Shia Muslims are all from Iran or support the Iranian government

Unfortunately this misconception comes almost unknowingly to many and many don’t seem to even realize they are making this misconception. Not all Shia Muslims are Iranian or support the Iranian government. Yes, the majority of Iranians are Shia. However the majority of Shia are not Iranian. There are Shia in Saudi Arabia, in Lebanon, in Iraq, in Morocco, in Nigeria, in South Africa, in India, in Pakistan, in Afghanistan, in Turkey, in Malaysia, in Indonesia, in Singapore. There are Shia Muslims in every single continent on earth, with a colorful array of different cultures and backgrounds. To say all Shia are Iranian or support the Iranian government is to say all Sunnis are actually Saudi Arabian and support the Saudi monarchy. This of course, does not make any sense and is a misconception that can be easily disregarded.

These are but a few of the common misconceptions surrounding Shia Muslims on a daily basis, and although there are many more, this attempt was to foster an opening for further discussion between Shia and Sunni communities. Unfortunately these misconceptions are but a few that plagues our world. With extreme leaders on both sides spewing hatred and ignorant misconceptions to wide-eyed youth, many people resort to violence and hatred of the other without even knowing why.

In conclusion, I believe it is important to remember that the Holy Quran encourages us to learn and to know one another, no matter what background or culture or belief we come from. We should uphold this beautiful concept, and move forwards towards intelligent discussions and open minded questioning in order to better understand ourselves and other Muslims.

"British Muslims have 3 choices in relation to their potential interaction with the wider society.

Ghettoization, integration or assimilation.

Ghettoization is where the community lives separately & remains isolated from the rest of the society with very limited interaction. This choice is self-defeating & counter-productive as it means non-muslims will have potential dawah restricted as well as no awareness of Islam & Muslims therefore will only receive their knowledge from the biased media & politicians who base their opinions on ignorance, prejudice, misunderstanding, misinformation, distortion, exaggeration, propaganda & hatred.

Assimilation is another possible option. This is known as the melting pot which is a metaphor for a heterogeneous society becoming more homogenous, the different elements "melting together" into a harmonious whole with a common culture.

However, this would be suicide for the community as it means dissolving into the rest of the non-muslim society without remaining distinct. For example, adopting English names like John as opposed to Muhammed, becoming indifferent about Muslim identity or any of the required Islamic obligations & even, God Forbid, becoming an apostate from Islam.

The only viable option for the community is integration which means interacting & mixing with the rest of non-muslim society while remaining distinct in our Muslim identity, values & behavior. This is known as the salad bowl concept which suggests that the integration of the many different cultures of a country combine like a salad, as opposed to the more traditional notion of a cultural melting pot.

In the salad bowl model, various cultures in a country are juxtaposed — like salad ingredients — but do not merge into a single homogeneous culture. Each culture keeps its own distinct qualities.

As Muslims, we are a naturally conservative community including a socially conservative community in relation to, for example, the family & gender relations.

Do Muslims have the right not to be liberal? Do we have to abandon established orthodox Islamic doctrines & teachings regarding homosexuality, same-sex marriage, the family, gender relations & our religion, in general, in order to be ‘British’?

That’s what is being suggested to us? That we need to subscribe to Liberalism in order to be accepted as ‘British’? What does it exactly mean to be ‘British’? Has anyone defined it?

Trevor Phillips appears to be ignoring the fact that the overwhelming majority of Muslims are involved in all aspects of British life including for example speaking English, participating in elections & the economy, attending sporting events, appearing on TV programs, involvement in various sports such as Boxing (Amir Khan), Athletics (Mo Farah), Cricket (Moeen Ali), sending our children to the state & private education system as well as walking the same streets as everybody else.

Personally, I am of the opinion that the community should adopt a position somewhere between ghettoization & integration which means mixing with the non-muslim society while remaining distinct as well as slightly separate in order to preserve our moral, religious, historical & civilizational identity & values.

We would have 2 parallel societies where the community has its own distinct society as well as interacting with the wider non-muslim society. Thankfully this largely appears to be the reality at present.

This is what has upset & scared the likes of Trevor Phillips which is that Muslims have refused to assimilate into ‘British’ values & have maintained a strong identity unlike other minority communities who, perhaps, are surrendering to the identity & values of the wider majority society.

We should give the likes of him a befitting response to the dangerous nonsense that he has peddled in this program.

We will remain who we are in terms of our identity & values regardless of how much liberals despise it.

Long may we continue to upset the likes of Phillips!

Why does Trevor Phillips think like this about Muslims?

Unfortunately, the reason is that he is a coconut & an Uncle Tom. Although he is of Afro-Caribbean ethnicity & has black skin color, he is internally white & the Western ideology of Liberalism is the prism through which he views the world.

In reality, he is internally white despite of being externally black. Tragically there are many like him who are either Muslim, non-white & of non-western origin who have internalized false consciousness.

Being the liberal determinist that he is, Phillips, like so many others, seems frustrated by both Islam and Muslims. Why can’t they just get with the secular liberal program & stop being such a nuisance unlike other communities who have apparently accepted ‘British’ values, ‘modern’ values & ‘progress’?

Phillips believes that history moves with intent, that the forces of ‘progress’ will inevitably prevail which entails, secularism, being areligious and liberalism.

The implication is clear enough: that to be truly “British” is to adopt a particular set of views about society, gender relations or, more generally, to be or become liberal.

This is a sentiment that has been noticed more and more after 9/11 & especially over debates about immigration during the last decade: the desire, sometimes a demand, to see Muslims embrace the western ideologies of secularism & liberalism, and an anger that many simply won’t. Too many Muslims, it seemed, are intent on defying the arc of history.

Long may it continue!"

"The Channel 4 documentary about British Muslims that recently aired is the latest in a disturbing trend of mainstreaming far-right segregationist politics in the West. The use of a flawed methodology, an unrepresentative sample, and shoddy data interpreted in the worst possible way to demonize an already unpopular minority only echoes the pseudo-scientific racism of the previous century. A plethora of op-eds has been generated that reduces all Muslims with their multivalent beliefs, opinions, perspectives, ethnicities, struggles, and aspirations in all their complexity into a single foreign Other, with the logical conclusion that "they" need to "go back home."

What is at stake here is the idea that people with different religions, philosophies, and backgrounds can live together and cooperate for the common good. This idea is under attack daily from across the spectrum by some of the most sophisticated propaganda techniques available. The eternal truth is that God created people to love each other, to live together, to win-win together. The only alternative is a dark world of tribalism in which the strong devour the weak and everyone ultimately loses. In good conscience we cannot allow these trends to continue unchallenged."

- Justin Parrott aka Abu Emina Elias

Ibrahim ibn Adham reported: We were passing through some cities and I saw two people among the ascetics on a journey. One of them said to the other, “O brother, what do the people who love Allah inherit from their beloved?” The other said, “They inherit insight from the light of Allah the Exalted and compassion for those who disobey Allah.” I said, “How can he have compassion for people who contradict their beloved?” He looked to me and said, “They abhor their sinful deeds and have compassion for them that by their admonition they might leave their deeds, and they feel sympathy that their bodies might be burned in Hellfire. The believer is not truly a believer until he is pleased for people to have what he is pleased for himself.” Then they left and I never saw them again.

Yasir Qadhi wrote on his Facebook page about Kharijites

lbn Kathir, the famous Muslim historian and student of lbn Taymiyya, writes in his aI-Bidaya wa-l-Nihaya (vol. 10, p. 584 paraphrased) :

And of the people whom the Kharijites killed was Abdullah b. Khabéb, the Companion of the Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam). They captured him, along with his pregnant wife, and said, "Who are you?" "I am Abdullah b. Khabéb, the Companion of the Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam), and you have brought harm and fear to me," he replied.
"Don't worry about that," they said. "Narrate to us something that you hear from the Prophet (SAW)." He said, "I heard my father narrate that he heard the Prophet (SAW) say: 'There shall be trials and tribulations to come. The one who sits (and does not participate) is better than the one who stands, and the one who stands is better than the one who walks, and the one who walks is better than the one who runs.” [Point of the hadith: in times of chaos and bloodshed, don't be involved in killing and step aside]. When he narrated this hadith to them, they tightened his ropes and dragged him along. And as they were traveling, they came across a pig belonging to a Dhimmi. One of them killed the pig, but he was chastised by the others, "How dare you kill a pig belonging to a Dhimmi!" so he went to the owner and recompensed him. And another ate a date on the ground that had fallen from a garden, but he was chastised, "How could you eat from it without asking permission?" so he spit out the date and didn't swallow it.

Yet, despite this outward show of piety, it was these same people who slaughtered Abdullah b. Khabab, and when they came to kill his wife, she screamed out, "I am with child! Do you not fear Allah?!"

Not only did they kill her, they slit her stomach to kill her child as well.

- end quote from Ibn Kathir.

And all of this is but some of what our history books narrate regarding the fanaticism of the Kharaijites, whom our Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) predicted would irritate the Ummah until the end of times. From their characteristics:

- blanket takfir of all those who oppose them
- self-taught and trained in Islamic sciences
- outer shell of piety, whilst living an inner life of sin
- typically young in age, foolish in their goals
- unable to engage in dialogue, for all they know is the language of killing and violence
- their slogans sound good, but their actions belie their sweet talk
- they will leave the true enemies of Islam, and target the people of Islam

All of these, and more, have been predicted in the traditions, and we see these prophetic predictions verified and proven every single day.

Ramadhan countdown 2016 - Islamic events leading up to Ramadhan

Why some people dont want to get married and/or have children

1. Maybe he/she isn't married because they're not ready financially or emotionally, or physically; maybe they're working through past trauma and don't want to burden anyone else until they've sorted themselves out; or maybe they don't see marriage like an acquisition or membership to some elite club that they need to rush to become a part of, but rather something meaningful, and true, and beautiful, and worth WAITING for.

Maybe it has NOTHING to do with their appearance or education or family background, relationship history, desirability, or religiosity, etc. And MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, you need to stop assuming what you know NOTHING about.

2. Maybe he/she doesn't want kids because they're exhausted in life. Maybe they had to help raise their siblings and/or they've spent a great deal of their life taking care of others (parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles, etc) and now they just want to pursue their own dreams and goals; or maybe they have serious health issues that you have no idea about and they don't want to share; or maybe they have fears/concerns about genetic or hereditary disorders being passed on to their offspring; or maybe they've tried to conceive and have suffered so many losses they can no longer cope with the anguish of *trying* to become parents anymore, so they've moved on.

Maybe it has NOTHING to do with their lifestyle or their values or goals or their physical/sexual relationship with their partner, or the quality of their marriage in general, etc. And MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, you need to stop assuming what you know NOTHING about.

3. Maybe he/she doesn't attend social events or community events regularly because they have private issues that prevent them from being too social; maybe they have family problems and feel guilty having fun while their loved ones are suffering; or maybe they have serious health problems that they keep private; or maybe they are working overtime or after normal business hours just to make end's meet; or maybe they've gone through some physical changes and can't fit into their nice clothes and can't afford to buy anything new; or maybe their dealing with an abusive spouse and are too afraid to leave the children alone at night.

Maybe it has NOTHING to do with them being anti-social, boring, too conservative, snobby, etc. And MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, you need to stop assuming what you know NOTHING about.

4. Maybe he/she didn't answer your calls, text messages, emails, etc., because they're just not doing well; maybe they are suffering silently or privately grappling with their own personal, emotional, spiritual issues and can't offer anyone anything until they feel better; maybe they're tired of explaining themselves, apologizing for not being available or responsive and feeling misunderstood and judged; maybe they need to regroup and center themselves on THEIR OWN time.

Maybe it has NOTHING to do with you, or they're being too "busy" with other things/people, or inconsiderate, rude, etc. And MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, you need to stop assuming what you know NOTHING about.

5. Maybe he/she spends a lot of time on social media and enjoys taking selfies and highlighting their accomplishments because they weren't raised in the most loving home; maybe they felt invisible growing up and the validation they get from a simple "like" or interaction fills a void; or maybe they're far from their loved ones and want to show them that they are happy and not to worry about them; or maybe they're in loveless or abusive relationships and struggle with their self-worth; or maybe they've long suffered from serious self-image and self-worth issues and don't have the means to seek help through professional channels so they rely on social media to feel connected because the alternative (feeling totally isolated) is completely terrifying.

Maybe it has NOTHING to do with vanity or arrogance or pretentiousness, etc. And MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, you need to stop assuming what you know NOTHING about.

Maybe if we made as many excuses for other people as we do for ourselves we would have much healthier relationships (and spiritual hearts)...MAYBE, JUST MAYBE...

■Mu'aath Ibn Jabal  narrated that the Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) said: "I swear by Allaah in Whose Hands my soul is, the miscarried child would pull his mother with his umbilical cord to Paradise if she sought Allaah's Reward for it and was patient.

[Ibn Maajah and Ahmad, and Al-Albaani classified it as authentic].

■He (sallAllahualayhi wassallam) also said: When a person’s child dies, Allah the Most High asks His angels, ‘Have you taken out the life of the child of My slave?’  They reply in the affirmative. He then asks, ‘Have you taken the fruit of his heart?’ They reply in the affirmative. Thereupon he asks, ‘What has My slave said?’ They say: ‘He has praised You and said: Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un (We belong to Allah and to Him we shall be returned).’ Allah says: ‘Build a house for My slave in Jannah and name it Bait-ul-Hamd (the House of Praise)’.”

(At-Tirmidhi, Number 1736)

■Ahmad reported that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "Any two Muslim who lose (by death) three of their children, Allah grants them Paradise thanks to His blessing on them" . Some companions asked: "O! Messenger of Allah and how about two?" He replied: "And two". They asked: "Or one?" He (the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam)) said: "Or one". Then he said: "By whom by soul is in His hand, the fetus that dies a neonatal death drags his mother with his umbilical cord in Paradise if she stays patient seeking the reward for this affliction from Allah".
