Allaah تعالى says:

{Does he (man) think that none sees him? Have We not made for him two eyes, And a tongue and two lips? And shown him the two ways (good and evil)?} [Surah al-Balad (90): 7-11]

Ibn al-Jawzee رحمه الله said: “I contemplated about sins, and I realized that it is not possible for a person to commit a sin except that he (mis)uses one of the many blessings bestowed upon him by Allaah.”

Ahmad bin Abi al-Hawaaree: on the authority of Abu `Abdullaah al-Raazee that Sufyaan bin `Uyainah رحمه الله said to him: “O Abu `Abdullaah! One of the ways a person thanks Allaah, for His blessings, is by Praising Him for it and using it (the blessings) in His obedience. It is not from thanking Allaah that a person uses these blessings in disobeying Allaah.” [Tahdheeb Al-Kamaal by Al-Mizzee (11/192)]

Two extremes are found amongst the Muslim youth regarding marriage: Over-idealism, wherein they imagine that marriage will make their life perfect; and severe pessimism, wherein marriage is viewed to be the end of independence, ambition, and a future career.Marriage is rarely seen for what it is: a long-term blessed bond between a Muslim man and woman, a relationship of love, compassion, and growth in all areas of life.

On this day (30 March, 1432), Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II was born in Edirne. He would conquer Constantinople at age 21.

Belittling People

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “It is sufficiently wicked for someone to belittle his fellow Muslim.” [Tirmidhi]

One day a man said to Imam Abu Hanifah, “Sir, people go about saying so many bad things about you, but one has never heard an ill word from your lips.” The Imam observed, “This is God’s grace. He grants it to whomever He likes.” On somebody telling Sufyan Thauri that he had never heard Abu Hanifah slander anybody, Sufyan said, “Abu Hanifah is not such a fool as to ruin all his good deeds.”

Imam Abu Hanifah always avoided speaking ill of people behind their backs and would often thank God for saving his tongue from being contaminated with this evil. [Sirat-i-Numan]

Yasir Qadhi wrote on his Facebook page
'I was interviewed for a story regarding three young teenagers who left Chicago attempting to join ISIS.

The story is here, and it is a fascinating read:
http://www.rollingstone.com/culture/features/teenage-jihad-inside-the-world-of-american-kids-seduced-by-isis-20150325

What really frightens me is how innocently naive and sheltered these young minds are. They do not understand how terrible the situation is on the ground, and how they will be used and abused by people far more sinister than anyone they could imagine.

A 17 year old girl from a middle-class religious family thinks that somehow she will help the cause of Islam by leaving her elderly parents and migrating to Iraq?! More likely that she will be abused by men who care nothing for her future. I ask you by Allah: who amongst you would want your daughter to leave her house and join strangers in a land far, far away? What type of Islam is this?!

Yet still, I can, at some level, understand the lure of this call. After all, American oppression and invasion has indeed caused much anger, and many people believe that ANY reaction is better than nothing. But our religion teaches us to temper our anger with wisdom and pragmatism, and to not throw our lives (and our chastity) vainly away.

I have said many times, and continue to say: Be angry! Be very angry at the Guantanamos and Abu Ghraibs, at the drones and the bombings, at the supporting and deposing of dictators, at the millions of deaths that the West has caused, at all of the dirty politics that this Empire is guilty of. But channel that anger into something that is useful and productive, even if you don't see its results immediately. First and foremost, learn your religion. Study the Quran and hadith, tafsir and seerah, fiqh and aqidah. Secondly, implement it and practice it. Thirdly, get involved in social causes that WILL impact society, whether through activism or journalism or charity work or Islamic academic activities. The effects of this change might not be immediate, but they WILL be more effective in the long run, and, most importantly, they will be permissible and blessed, unlike the wanton violence and killing that other groups are guilty of.

May Allah protect us and our children from ever defending or legitimizing evil, whether it be false American invasions or pseudo-jihadists killing innocents.'

Once, Abu Bakr appeared in the masjid, walking swiftly, having raised his lower garment so that his shin was visible. Upon seeing him, the Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said, 'It appears your companion [meaning Abu Bakr] has been in an argument!'

When he came to the gathering, he greeted the Prophet (SAW) and said, 'O Messenger of Allah! There was an issue between Umar b. al-Khattab and me, and I got angry [and said some things], but then regretted it. So I asked him to forgive me, but he refused! That is why I came to you.'

The Prophet (SAW) said, 'Allah will forgive you, O Abu Bakr' and repeated it three times.

In the meantime, Umar regretted what had transpired, and went to the house of Abu Bakr, hoping to find him there, but he was not there. So Umar made his way to the masjid, and saw him there. When Umar greeting the Prophet (SAW), the anger from the Prophet's (SAW) face was obvious. After a while, Abu Bakr himself felt pity for Umar, so he half-stood up on his knees and said, 'O Messenger of Allah! By Allah I did more wrong than he did [to me].'

The Prophet (SAW) replied, "Allah sent me to you: while all of you said, 'He lies!', Abu Bakr said, 'He has spoken the truth!' And it is Abu Bakr who has shared with me himself and his wealth [like no other], so will you not leave my Companion (sahibi) alone?!"

So no one ever interfered with Abu Bakr after that. [Reported by al-Bukhari].

There are so many benefits from this beautiful narration:
1) The Companions are humans, and so trivial differences do indeed occur between them
2) The gentleness of Abu Bakr, by realizing that perhaps he had used harsh words, and by asking Umar to forgive him, and by then excusing him in the end.
3) The soft side of Umar as well, having realized that he should have forgiven Abu Bakr and therefore walking to his house to apologize.
4) The high status of Abu Bakr and the unconditional praise that the Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) gave him.
5) By explicit testimony of the Quran and of the Sunnah, Abu Bakr is a Companion (sahabi); whoever disputes this has negated the Quran and Sunnah.
6) it is not only the companions (r.a.) who defended the Prophet (saws), but vice versa
7) The narrator did not mention the topic or reason of the disagreement between Abu Bakr and Umar showing us that it's better not to focus or dwell on divisive issues
8) The Companions' empathizing for one another and putting themselves in the others' shoes
9) Rushing to take the blame on oneself rather than seeing his brother bear the brunt of the Prophet's anger. A true case of love for your brother what you love for yourself!
"Saya harap tiada golongan, seperti pihak madrasah, sekolah, syarikat, pertubuhan2 yg akan memaksa para pelajar, staff atau volunteernya, utk menziarahi seseorg yg telah meninggal dunia. Biarlah sesiapa yg nak ziarah atau TAK ingin ziarah, diberi kebebasan sendiri. Harap JANGAN memaksa. Semua org dgn "nawaitu" masing2..

Dlm masalah BERKABUNG utk umat Islam pula, terdapat 2 jenis:
1) Berkabung seorg isteri atas kematian suami - Hukumnya WAJIB. Jangka masa: 4 bulan 10 Hari. (Kecuali kalau dia hamil, masa berkabung sehingga melahirkan)
2) Selain dpd kematian suami, Berkabung (kerana kematian adik-beradik, kaum kerabat, kenalan) memang diharuskan (dibolehkan). Namun jangka masa yg dibenarkan syara' utk berkabung sedemikian hanyalah selama 3 Hari. Tak wajar seseorg berkabung melebihi tiga hari (kecuali isteri, kematian suami).

"Tidak halal bagi seorg wanita beriman pada Allah dan Hari Akhirat utk berkabung keatas mayat lebih dpd 3 hari, kecuali berkabung keatas suaminya. Sesungguhnya, wajib keatasnya berkabung selama 4 bulan 10 hari..." [Hadith]

Namun, secara umum, tidak juga wajar seorg Muslim, berkabung atas kematian seorg yg zalim atau mereka2 yg memerangi Islam (sy tak mendakwa sesiapa secara peribadi)

On this day (24 March, 809) Harun al-Rashid died. He was fifth Abbasid caliph and ruled during that dynasty's zenith.

Yasir Qadhi wrote on his Facebook page
' So hurt to hear of the death of Sr. Farkhunda, an Afghan women who spoke out in front of a dargah against visiting shrines and wearing talismans, and was then falsely accused of burning the Quran.

A mob of angry men literally beat her to death, in front of the watchful eyes of the police, even as she begged them to stop, and then burned her corpse. As if this was not enough, many of them made videos and pictures of this barbaric tragedy on their cellphones. Someone forwarded me pictures of this incident that made my stomach churn.

A sign of how truly civilized a nation is is how it treats its women. May Allah restore the honor and respect that women deserve in our societies!

PS. I do NOT mean to disparage an entire nation because of this incident, and I know that this one act is not representative of the reality of most people, in that region and elsewhere. My comment on 'treatment of women' is meant for all societies, especially Muslim ones, where we are told and taught that Jannah lies under the feet of one woman in our lives! And as our Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said, "The best of you in manners are those who are best to their women." '

'Please excuse me for pointing out a few points:

She was not mentally ill. She was perfectly fine and a very gifted student and graduate of Islamic studies at Aisha Siddiqa Islamic school in Kabul. She was also completing her memorization of the Qur'an (which was nearly completed). The TV station who interviewed her family suggested that they should say she was insane to avoid further relation upon them. This was stupid. She was perfectly sane and her actions were courageous and noble. What she burned were Ta`widh amulets and the Mullahs at Shah Do Shamshir who issue these Ta`widh are called "Tawiz Nawis" and they prey upon the hopes of the people, mostly widows and indigent women. Farkhunda standing up to them and refuting them threatened their clout and income so they fabricated that she burned the Qur'an. But she was killed for actually defending the integrity of this Deen.

As a small but notable side note: The correct term for the people of Afghanistan is "Afghan". The Afghani is the monetary currency.

Jazakum Allahu Khayran, Shaykh Yasir, for being one of the only Shuyukh to mention and condemn this horrible incident. This is why people rightly look up to you because you always stand on the right side of the issues.'

The parable of the guidance and knowledge with which Allah the Exalted has sent me is that of rain falling upon the earth. There is a good piece of land which receives the rainfall and as a result there is abundant growth of plants; then there is a land hard and barren which retains the water and people benefit from it and they and their animals drink from it; then there is another land which is barren and neither is water retained nor does any grass grow. The likeness of the first one is he who develops understanding of the religion of Allah and he benefits from that with which Allah sent me; the second is one who acquires knowledge of religion and teaches others; the third is one who does not pay attention to the message and thus he does not accept the guidance with which Allah sent me.

Abdullah ibn Salam said: When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came to Medina, the people rushed towards him and it was said, “The Messenger of Allah has come!” I came along with the people to see him, and when I looked at the face of the Messenger of Allah, I realized that his face was not the face of a liar. The first thing he said was:

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَفْشُوا السَّلَامَ وَأَطْعِمُوا الطَّعَامَ وَصَلُّوا بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّاسُ نِيَامٌ تَدْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ بِسَلَامٍ

O people, spread peace, feed the hungry, and pray at night when people are sleeping and you will enter Paradise in peace.

Abdullah ibn Umar reported: A man asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, “Which Islam is best?” He said:

To feed the hungry and to greet with peace those you know and those you do not know.

The meaning of spreading peace to “those you do not know” is to spread peace to the world in general.

Has there reached you the story of the honored guests of Abraham? When they entered upon him and said: We greet you with peace, so he answered: I greet you with peace, a people unknown.

Umar on humility: There is no goodness in us if we do not accept far criticism

Al-Hasan reported: A man said to Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, “Fear Allah, O leader of the believers! By Allah, the matter is not as you said!” The people rushed to the man and they said, “Do not criticize the leader of the believers!” When Umar saw them crowding around the man, he said, “Leave him alone. There is no goodness in him if he does not say it to us, and there is no goodness in us if we do not listen.”

"O Allah, don’t give me much of this world lest I transgress and don’t give little lest I forget, for that which is little and sufficient is better than that which is more but distracting."

- ‘Umar Ibn Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him)

[‘Al-Musanaf, Ibn Abi Shayba]

He who removes from a believer one of his difficulties of this world, Allah will remove one of his troubles on the Day of Resurrection; and he who finds relief for a hard-pressed person, Allah will make things easy for him on the Day of Resurrection; he who covers up (the faults and sins) of a Muslim, Allah will cover up (his faults and sins) in this world and in the Hereafter. Allah supports His slave as long as the slave is supportive of his brother…” [Muslim]

Hudhaifa reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, I fear for you that a man will recite the Quran until his delight is seen and he takes Islam as a cloak. Then, he changes to whatever Allah wills for him, such that it is stripped from him and he throws it behind his back, assaulting his neighbor with the sword and accusing him of idolatry.” I said, “O Prophet of Allah, which one is closer to idolatry? The accused or the accuser?” The Prophet said, “Rather it is the accuser.”

Kisah 25 Nabi (link sahaja)

MUKADDIMAH

Ciri-ciri mereka dikemukakan dalam Al-Qur’an,

1.Shiddiq (benar), Mustahil ia Kizib (dusta).

2.Amanah (dapat dipercaya), mustahil Khianat (curang).

3.Tabliqh (Menyampaikan wahyu kepada umatnya), Mustahil Kitman (menyembunyikan Wahyu).

4.Fathonah (Pandai/cerdas), Mustahil Jahlun (Bodoh).

5.Bersifat jaiz yaitu Aradhul Basyariyah (sifat-sifat sebagaimana manusia).

Who is Muhammad (pbuh)

Yasir Qadhi interviewed alongside Graeme Wood

I was interviewed alongside Graeme Wood, the author of The Atlantic article, 'What ISIS Really Wants'. The interview will be broadcast on NPR stations tomorrow, but it's already online here:

http://interfaithradio.org/Story_Details/ISIS__Driven_by_Revenge_or_Theology_

Overall I was satisfied with the interview and felt that I got my main points across. The thrust of the interview (for those who can't listen to it) was that Graeme's article almost completely sidelines the main cause of the rise of ISIS, and that is the utterly destructive American foreign policy in the region. For over 35 years, America has been directly meddling in that region, by supporting and deposing dictators, going to war twice, imposing sanctions that killed millions, installing puppet regimes that allowed for sectarian massacres, dropping hundred of thousands of tons of bombs over the last decade and a half, and the list goes on and on.

But rather than concentrate on those issues, Mr. Wood's article concentrates on 'Islamic laws' and how ISIS is so 'Islamic'.

Had it not been for the barbarity of the American invasions and sanctions, regular, ordinary Muslims would not have resorted to or believed in the barbarity of ISIS. This is not a justification of ISIS - it is a call of accountability for the role that America itself played in the direction creation of the causes that allowed ISIS to come forth.

Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “When the believers pass safely over the Hellfire, they will be stopped at a bridge in between Hell and Paradise where they will be recompensed for the injustices done among them in the world. When they are purified of all their sins, they will be admitted into Paradise. By Him in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, everybody will recognize his home in Paradise better than he recognizes his home in this world.”
