One of the most influential and celebrated scholars of Bengal in the 1300s, Shah Jalal, lived in a small cave from which he preached Islam. Yet he was so well known that Ibn Battuta even made a detour in his travels in 1345 just to visit him.

"Hazrat Shah Jalal (Rah.a) & many of his companions came from present day Yemen to preach Islam in Indian subcontinent.they were advised by other muslim sufis to travel to Sylhet in present day Bangladesh, where small local muslim population were persecuted for their new religion.Local Raja Gauro govind was hindu & very much oppressive to the minorities. Hazrat went there to rescue this tiny muslim population along with his famous 360 companions.many of whom were member of ahle bait.after traveling from Delhi they reached on the bank of river surma.by hearing that Raja ordered the local roars to stop harboring hazrat and confiscated their dinghies.by seeing this act Hazrat(Rah.a)ordered his companion to use their prayer Matt as flotilla. And by the grace of Almighty they crossed the the mighty river and defeated the tyrant raja.He is very much revered by the muslim of Bangladesh as a pioneer of Islam in this corner of Indian subcontinent."

"The raja was "Gaur gobind"(গৌড় গোবিন্দ) (1300s) not the 10th & last sikh guru 'Guru govind singh' (1666-1708). #sayed_kamran #Mohammad_chy"
