Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was upon the pulpit and he said, “Be merciful to others and you will receive mercy. Forgive others and Allah will forgive you. Woe to those who neglect the word. Woe to those who persist their in wrongdoing while they know better.”

Abu Al-Yaman said, “Neglecting the word are those for whom the words enter their ears and then exit.”

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ ارْحَمُوا تُرْحَمُوا وَاغْفِرُوا يَغْفِرْ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ وَيْلٌ لِأَقْمَاعِ الْقَوْلِ وَيْلٌ لِلْمُصِرِّينَ الَّذِينَ يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى مَا فَعَلُوا وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ
