Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Two men among the Children of Israel were opposite of each other. One of them was a sinner and the other would strive in worship. The one who strove would see the one sinning and would tell him to stop. One day he found him sinning so he said, “Stop!” The sinner said, “Leave me alone, by my Lord. Have you been sent as a watchman over me?” The worshiper said, “By Allah, Allah will not forgive you or enter you into Paradise.” Later their souls were taken and they met in the presence of the Lord of the Worlds. Allah said to the one who strove, “Did you have knowledge of Me? Or did you have power over what is in My Hand?” He said to the sinner, “Enter Paradise by My Mercy.” And He said to the worshiper, “Take him to the Hellfire.” Abu Huraira said, “By the one in whose Hand is my life, he spoke a word which ruined him in this world and the Hereafter.”

Such are the people of truth, the God-fearing." – Qur’an English Translation [2:177]

Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: Two young men were fighting, one from the Muhajireen and one from the Ansar. The Muhajir called out, “O Muhajireen!” and the Ansari called out, “O Ansar!” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came out and he said, “What is this call of the people of ignorance?” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, it is nothing but two young men fighting and one hit the other from behind.” The Prophet said, “It does not matter. Hudhaifa reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, I fear for you that a man will recite the Quran until his delight is seen and he takes Islam as a cloak. Then, he changes to whatever Allah wills for him, such that it is stripped from him and he throws it behind his back, assaulting his neighbor with the sword and accusing him of idolatry.” I said, “O Prophet of Allah, which one is closer to idolatry? The accused or the accuser?” The Prophet said, “Rather it is the accuser.”

Yasir Qadhi wrote on his Facebook page
'To sin is human, but to justify your sins is satanic!

When Allah asked Iblis "What prevented you from prostrating when I commanded you?", Iblis responded by justifying his disobedience to Allah "I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay."
And when Adam ate from the tree, he said, "O my Lord! I have wronged myself, and if you do not forgive us and have mercy on us we shall be from those who are destroyed."

No matter what sin you are struggling with, acknowledge your own weakness and turn to Allah for help and forgiveness, as your father Adam did. But never try to justify your sins, for then you truly would be following the path of the accursed one, Shaytan.'
