Sheikh Hamza Yusuf interview on BBC (probably 2005 to 2006)

'I would say all revelations are absolute when it's looked out from the perspective that is from God. But, it has to be looked through the prism of the human mind, and the human mind will refract it in different ways, and I think the danger for people with an absolute disinterpretation (or interpretation) of the scripture is that they are blinded as supposed to being guided by the light of God. So I think that's absolutely essential that we understand that when we look at scripture, we're looking at it through the prism of our own subjective understanding. And that is why in Islamic tradition, you want the collective body of views to be examined; you dont want any individual view to have sovereignty over other views..'
